Letters from our founder regarding covid-19

June 12, 2020

Dear Customers and Friends -

Like many Americans, we are thrilled with the reopening of many U.S. businesses - particularly small businesses, who have been so negatively impacted by COVID-19.

From retailers to restaurants, museums to parks and places of worship, our country is finding a new normal, and it’s good see faces in person again! : )
We’re so pleased to have reopened both our Dallas/Victory Park and Plano/Legacy West locations in May, upon approval of Texas’ Governor Abbott to do so.

As COVID-19 remains a reality in our country, we understand the importance of continuing to maintain extra measures of sanitation and safety in our stores and shipping of online orders. We continue to wash and sanitize our hands and commonly-used surfaces frequently, wear face masks when on the sales floor and ensure our studios afford plenty of space for team members to work comfortably. Complimentary hand sanitizer is available at our registers, and is also available for sale, as are face masks.

Please visit our stores should you live in the Dallas/Plano area, or shop with us online. Your support is the very sustenance of our business, and we are so grateful for your encouragement and visits - both in-person and online!

Let us know if there’s anything we can do for you, or questions we may answer: hello@readbetweenthelines.com

We promise to get back with you ASAP.

Take good care of yourself and one another.

With love,

Customers and Friends -

It’s almost a month to the day since my last letter of this nature, and I’m grateful - so very grateful - to see the coronavirus pandemic leveling off or abating in many hard-hit areas of the United States, as well as affected communities around the world. Our prayers are with those still battling - from frontline responders to those at home.

Whether or not the virus has entered your doors or afflicted those you know, none of us have been untouched by the effects of a world-wide struggle with an unknown disease. It’s changed our home life, our work and livelihoods, and our day-to-day in unforeseen and previously unimaginable ways - some of those heart-breaking, and others heartwarming.

We’re finding new ways to be and be useful, to take time for those we love, and to deepen our roots in what matters. It’s been an era of appreciation for the seemingly small things, and 'less is more.'

To our customers - I cannot thank you enough for your support and loyalty through this challenging time.

Many of you previously exclusively shopped with us in our brick-and-mortar stores in Dallas and Plano, which we were forced to close last month, until further notice. You have since transitioned to shopping with us online, helping ensure our business is sustainable.

Others of you are newer to our brand and business, perhaps introduced by friends or social media, and your orders have been a part of our very survival during this difficult time, as well. Thank you!

Prior to CV-19, our business was almost 100% brick-and-mortar derived. We were a one-on-one minded, customer-focused company, and hadn’t applied ourselves to online as we could have. The company was vulnerable because it wasn’t diversified and that was my mistake as a leader. Our revenue went to zero overnight due to shelter-in-place, and it was terrifying.

What was previously a team of 15 is now a team of five.

Your patronage in recent weeks of our online shop, support of our efforts to recreate the RBTL® in-store experience online and introduce new CV-19-oriented products has been such a blessing and encouragement. Know your support of this small business truly makes a daily difference and helps ensure our future is real and viable.

We’re working daily to ensure our online shop is evermore robust with maker-focused, beautiful options in cards and gifts for everyone on your list - as well as pampering, fun ways for you to de-stress and connect from afar with those you love!

Please continue to support small businesses of which you are fond, knowing each order or purchase means so, so much to them. Whether or not they have a breath to tell you, each order helps an entrepreneur and their team sleep at night and get ready to work the next day, no matter what’s on the news, how tired they may be, or the state of their bank account and bills.

If money is tight, know your sending a note of encouragement via a card, email, text or Instagram direct message can turn someone’s day around, and give them the energy to push on! This applies not only to small businesses you love, but everyone you know! : )

Our hope remains in God and our spirits lifted by His provision and the wild beauty found in spring, appearing all-around - undaunted - as our example.

With much gratitude,

To Our Dear Customers -

This is such a challenging time we’re in, and I wanted to give you an update on our business at Read Between The Lines® in light of COVID-19.

The health and safety of our customers and team is my top priority, and, like many businesses around the country, I have made the difficult decision to temporarily close our brick-and-mortar stores for the time being.
We will so miss seeing your faces in person in Dallas and Plano over the next two weeks, and, while our physical stores are closed, will be hard at work providing even more robust selections and surprises for you in our online shop, and preparing to reopen our stores and get you ready for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, coming up soon!

Our online shop is open 24/7 during this time. We’ll be fulfilling orders promptly and daily with normal ship times, and can’t wait to serve you here!

P.S. Enjoy free shipping on all U.S. orders!

Know your support of our small business via online purchases means so much! Not only will you be sustaining the viability of our brand and team through this difficult time - you’ll also be a part of the financial health of the many wonderful makers we’re honored to carry.

Although giants like Amazon are handy for so much, know your purchases right now with small businesses of all kinds - from stores to local coffee shops, restaurants and services - truly will determine whether those hard-working small teams will be in business when COVID-19 has remitted. It’s that serious. And you can make that much of an impact!

If you’re staying in, please shop small by purchasing via online shops, utilizing take-out services in communities where dining-in has been temporarily prohibited, and sharing the businesses you adore with those you love, so they can support, too. We’re all in this together, and every purchase matters, truly!

Please don’t hesitate to reach out via email at hello@readbetweenthelines.com or on social media @rbtlpaper with any questions you have. We’ll get right back with you!

Want a good scripture to repeat as a mantra? This is my very favorite - it’s a really powerful one to read aloud, too!

“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not tremble or be dismayed, for the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:9

Take excellent care and lots of deep breaths. I’m confident our world will come out of this with new strength, perspective, and appreciation for all we have in love, life and one another.

So grateful for you.

xoxo,
