We all have something we dream about doing – it’s often the stuff you sketch on paper napkins and boarding passes and church programs. For me, it was creating a line of cards.
I wanted to write words that moved people to braveness of the heart or a better day, and print them on paper so good it would make you sigh with the yum of it all.
The design had to be modern, warm, and gender neutral, so that even my brother, Morgan, would feel comfortable using the line. Paper goods that serve men and women with equal amounts of thoughtfulness and quality. Laughter and relationships don’t really have a gender, after all. The good stuff is the good stuff.
It was important to me that the cards would speak to the feelings you have about events and the people involved, rather than focusing on the events themselves. That’s why Read Between The Lines® products don’t say ‘Happy Birthday!’ but, rather, ‘You’re The Best And The Mostest,’ or ‘Heck Yes.’ The whole reason you’re pumped for someone’s life event is because it’s an occasion to celebrate what he or she means to you, and the amazing role they play in your life and in this world. That’s what the cake and candles are really about. Amazingness.
I also envisioned having a stationery and gift store that was special, cozy and easy to shop. A place you could escape to for a lunch hour or on the way home that could turn your day around. You'd experience young, fantastic lines on the move, as well as established brands that still push for greatness each season.
Our brick-and-mortar flagship store in Dallas opened in March of 2015, and, a year later, we launched our new online shop. It's been the busiest, most blessed season of my life, and largely because of the amazing team with which I work, and you, our customers, both wholesale and retail.
Both our flagship and online store sell Read Between The Lines® products as well as curated paper goods, gifts, bar and party wares, jewelry, fine coffee table books and home decor from designers and makers we love. If you are a paper freak or gift giver, you will feel very at home!
