We all have something we dream about doing – it’s often the stuff you sketch on paper napkins and boarding passes and church programs. For me, it was creating a line of cards.
I wanted to write words that moved people to braveness of the heart or a better day, and print them on paper so good it would make you sigh with the yum of it all.
The design had to be modern, warm, and gender neutral, so that even my brother, Morgan, would feel comfortable using the line. Paper goods that serve men and women with equal amounts of thoughtfulness and quality. Laughter and relationships don’t really have a gender, after all. The good stuff is the good stuff.
It was important to me that the cards would speak to the feelings you have about events and the people involved, rather than focusing on the events themselves. That’s why Read Between The Lines® products don’t say ‘Happy Birthday!’ but, rather, ‘You’re The Best And The Mostest,’ or ‘Heck Yes.’ The whole reason you’re pumped for someone’s life event is because it’s an occasion to celebrate what he or she means to you, and the amazing role they play in your life and in this world. That’s what the cake and candles are really about. Amazingness.
I also envisioned having a card and gift store that was special, cozy and easy to shop. A place you could escape to for a lunch hour, or on the way home that would turn your day around.
You'd be able to shop RBTL® goods, curated young makers on the move (including local and Texas-based) and established brands still pushing for greatness.
Our first brick-and-mortar store opened in Dallas in March of 2015. In January of 2019, our Plano, Texas store - built from the ground up - opened at Legacy West. What a blessing it is to be able to take care of our customers in person, and share in their daily lives.
In our Plano store (and online shop!), you'll find the full collection of Read Between The Lines® products, as well as fine cards, candles, notebooks and gifts from brands we can't wait to share with you.
I'm so grateful for our amazing Team and you, our wonderful customers, both retail and wholesale. You make this business possible and our work so fulfilling!
